Today sees the launch of the National Flu Website and Helpline giving everyone access to instant medical advice and treatment.

The helpline number is 0800 1513 100

Government guidelines advise that anyone who has already been treated with Anti-Viral medication cannot receive a second course.

IF YOU FEEL UNWELL

The symptoms of swine flu are broadly the same as those of ordinary flu, but may be more severe and cause more serious complications.

The typical symptoms are:

  • sudden fever (a high body temperature of 38C/100.4F or above), and
  • sudden cough.

Other symptoms may include:

  • headache,
  • tiredness, 
  • chills,
  • aching muscles,
  • limb or joint pain,
  • diarrhoea or stomach upset,
  • sore throat,
  • runny nose,
  • sneezing, and
  • loss of appetite.
